Here are all the pics from Christmas in Slideshow format. I thought this would be easier than uploading all the files individually. Plus, if you want to save them to your computer, you can batch download them from the Google Photos site. If you like a particular picture, click on it during the slideshow to see it bigger. Click on any picture during the slideshow to go to the Google Page with all the photos if you want to download them to Picasa on your computer.

Lily's First Christmas
Today was Lily's first Christmas as well as her first real cold. She's been sick all day long...sniffing, sneezing, achy, crying...her little nose is so red. (Like Rudolph, perhaps?) Again, I'll post many more pictures whenever we get home, but thought I'd put a couple up tonight. We got together at my grandmother's house, and then later at my mother's and exchanged gifts, ate together, and had a really nice day.

Christmas Eve 2007
We've taken tons of pictures so far, and I'll post them all when we get back to Buffalo, but here's a quick sample from Lily's first Christmas Eve.
Liz and I are so excited, partly because Lily is coming into a really fun age and we think she'll have a good time tomorrow, but also because we are thrilled to be able to give Christmas to someone else. Giving gifts is one thing, but being able to give this feeling, the emotions, the whole season and reason, is something we've both looked forward to for a long, long time. I hope that many years from now, when Lily looks back on this, she'll know how much Christmas means to our family and will have many, many wonderful memories of the Christmases we have given her.
This is just the beginning. A first in what will become decades and dozens of Christmas experiences for Lily and for us. If there was ever any doubt about the existence of Santa, this feeling alone should be all the proof anyone would need. Liz and I love that we have a lifetime of Christmases to prepare for--to create, to mold, to imagine--and we love that Lily is the beneficiary of all that we dream up for years to come.
She's the best gift we've ever received, and we intend on spending the rest of our lives making sure she knows it.
Merry Christmas to you all...there'll be much more to share once we're home from our trip!
Lily in her Christmas Eve outfit. The stripes are designed to help Santa get directly to her crib! (Note: this picture was taken roughly 60 seconds after Miss Independent Stand Up Champion decided to lunge forward a little too fast and hit her head against the chair...the tears were flowing pretty good until Mommy picked her up!)

We took a picture of us in downtown Kannapolis against all the lights. Lily is doing this new thing with her lips that makes her look like she belongs to the Panella family.

Twas the Day Before Christmas Vacation
Twas the day before Christmas
Vacation at school.
The kids were all wild,
With holiday fuel.
From cupcakes and cookies
To candies and pie
The sugar level was running
Ten miles high!
Then there was me
Waiting just one more day
Until we were off
Until past New Year's Day.
But before we could leave
Before I could rest,
I must announce the winner of
The CT Christmas Contest.
After sifting through entries
A winner shone through
Mrs. Tracy, the champion
She knew every clue!
I delievered her prize
And she thanked me with hugs.
But later was back
With a frown on her mug.
It seems that her candy
Had gone quite amiss
Within the container
That once contained bliss.
The wrappers were there
But the candy was not
We could not figure out
To where it had got (ten...)
After careful deep thought
We discovered the louse
That had eaten it all
Took the form of a mouse.
It ate chocolate kisses
And chocolate bars too,
Peanut Butter Cup Trees,
And it left behind poo.
Dolores was gracious,
She held empty wrappers
And said, "that's okay"
'Least my kids aren't the nappers!
She sanitized the rest
Of the prizes she won,
And she'll use them I'm sure,
Without coming undone.
As for the mouse,
I'm sure he's quite glad
He had a two week chocolate
Buffet, that's not bad!
These mice are so tricky,
But the lesson's been learned:
Don't leave the food where
The mice can return.
Addendum:
I'm sorry Dolores,
But you're such a good sport
I sense a fresh prize
Of the edible sort.
This one will be,
And I can guarantee,
Completely, 100%
Mouse free!

Oh My Stars, It's Liz and Paula!
Many, many (MANY!) years ago, when Liz and Paula were in the 8th grade...they starred in a Christmas pageant, which you can view clips of here. We taped from the TV and will have a better copy soon, but these were too priceless not to share now. Oh, and Paula, if you're reading this, please make sure you do your Christmas Hand Movements as you watch these...you know what I'm talking about!

Will the real Lily Fisher please stand up?
Yesterday, Lily figured out how to stand up on her own. Note to Jack Scully: Now that Lily can stand, she'll soon be ready to walk down the aisle...
Sorry it's so dark...she did this at night. Also, me laughing at the end is an attempt to keep her from crying by distracting her. It didn't work.

SNOW!
We had a little mini-blizzard this past weekend and got about 10 inches of snow, giving us a grand total of about 15 on the ground. I took some pictures of the windows at school, where the drifts came up over the windows--which were on the second floor. Some of the drifts around our house are in the 2-3 foot range!

Christmas Lily
Lily is ten months old today!
Yesterday, we took her to see Santa. She tried to eat his beard, but he appeared nonplussed. As Santa's go...he was kind of a lump, he really didn't participate except to hold on to the baby, and he didn't speak at all, and you can see by the picture that he really wasn't smiling with his eyes. Lily was in awe of the whole mall experience, though. She didn't know where to look, so she looked everywhere! The photographer snapped two pictures, the one below, and one where Lily was looking down and away. She actually asked me which one we wanted. (For the low value price of $12.99--their "SUPER VALUE" package was $45.99 - I'm in the WRONG business. I bet the photographer and Santa made more money yesterday than I make all year.)
We got a better picture of her at home in front of the Christmas tree!
