Just Another Manic Monday...

1. Back porch flooded...on the new carpet.

2. Utilitiy room flooded.

3. Sump pump, which empties into my shower, came on while I was showering and sprayed me with muck water.

4. An accident blocked our way to work, and we had to go around the long way.

5. I hit a dog on the way to work. (It ran away, we think it's okay.)

6. The police came (in the downpour) during the dog incident, and while talking to them, several tractor trailers came barrelling by, soaking us to the skin.

7. I went to school drenched, with my clothes stuck to my legs and belly. With my hair also stuck to my face, I'm sure I looked quite handsome.

8. I taught a workshop today, and I was hot and have a sinus infection...it wasn't pretty.

9. Dolly had trouble breathing and the paramedics had to come and give her oxygen. She refused to go to the hospital, but did comment on the pretty black and white dots she was seeing.

10. The pool had filled completely up, so I attempted to drain it. The pipe came shooting off of the pump, and began to fill the yard with water, and generally make an incredible mess.

11. I had to go to Buff State today for a workshop. It had stopped raining until I came out of the library. Ironically, I noticed the sun starting to peek out just before I heard the riotous clap of thunder that brought with it a Noah-inspired deluge. Of course, I got wet again.

12. And last but not least, to top off the day, we didn't get any good mail.

I have never looked forward to a Tuesday so much in my life.

September FEST!

We went to Barb's Cousin Carol's house for SeptemberFEST yesterday. They had a huge cookout with ribs, chicken, sausage...just all kinds of food. Dolly and Ginny went with us, and I finally met Paul, Jonah's (Liz's cousin...) stepdad. We had a good time eating and talking, and saw a few people that Barb hadn't seen in years. I've included some pictures below, the last three being the designs we wore on T-shirts to the event. Everybody LOVED them!

Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Dad!

I was going to put up the birthday song that he's sung to us for years, but it looks worse typed out, than it does to just listen to it. So, suffice to say, Happy, Happy Birthday! (And, we'll call later...)

LOST

Well, we sat around watching LOST tonight. We've been waiting patiently since the season finale in May to find out what happened, and, as viewers, we're even more "lost" now than in May. The previews from next week say that something will be revealed...but I think the producers are liars. I just want to know what in the heck is going on, and I will certainly tune in next week to find out.

Celebrity Verbal Assault!

You remember John Stevens...American Idol Celebrity, and also Buffalo Native. Well, today, he was spotted in Wegman's by Liz's parents. When he came out, Doug yelled to him across the parking lot, and John talked to the Brumptons. They chatted for a few minutes, while Doug coerced him into giving an autograph that specifically said, "With all my love, Barb, love John." This is EXACTLY what John wrote, on the only thing they could find to write on: An Allstate Insurace receipt.

To furthur complicate matters, Barb wrote John's name out in Print underneath the signature, because his handwriting was illegible, and she wanted to remember that he was the one who signed it.

However, I have a hard time believing that any autographs that pop up on car insurance receipts would be forgotten anytime soon.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...why doesn't someone follow the Brumpton's around with a video camera? We could all be mega-rich with the reality show we could produce...most recently starring a parking lot berated John Stevens. Will the madness ever end? Stay tuned...

Our Favorite New TV Show - "Little Britain"

These are some pictures from our new favorite show on the BBC. If you haven't seen it yet, tune in! It's hilarious! It's on Fridays at 10:20 (because it's 40 minutes long). You can catch it on BBCA on digital cable.

The Blog is One Year Old!

Happy Birthday to the Blog! It has been one year since I started doing this.

There have been over 3700 hits over the year, and I've posted to the blog over 450 times. I've written approximately 12,000 words, and people have looked at my profile over 110 times.

This has been a great way to communicate, and share what's gone on with my life as a New Yorker.

The second year should be even better, especially with us being in a new house, me finishing up my master's degree, and new jobs that are sure to bring a least a few entertaining stories.

Keep viewing...there's much more to come!

Back To School!

Well, tomorrow's the day.

Liz and I head back to school, this time though, we're together again. With gas going up so high, it's great that we can travel together.

We're both a tad apprehensive, but should be better this time tomorrow, after the first day is done. I'm a little excited to see some of the kids from last year, but I don't start teaching until the middle of the month, due to meetings the first week.

All in all, it looks to be a very good school year, and we'll have much more to report this weekend!

Have a great week!

-Mike

$3.05

In 2 days, gas has gone up 55 cents a gallon. We're planning on staying in a lot more now, and we're considering walking! (Oh, the horror!) The rain from the Hurricane came through, but we fared okay. We had about 4 inches of rain, and it filled up the pool. Other than that, we didn't have any other flooding or damage. However, being new to taking care of a pool, I forgot to turn the filter from "rinse" back to "filter." The vacuum that was created when I let some of the water of the pool continued to slowly seep water while I went to work. When I came home, there was about ten inches drained out of it! It took 4 hours to put the water back...I can't wait to see that water bill!

Also, I took a picture of one of the streets that flooded on the way to work:
