We finally had a night here in Buffalo that was clear, but unfortunately the comet we were looking for was no where to be found. The wind really picked up and we were having trouble keeping the telescope still enough to see anything. We managed an okay picture of the moon and saw Jupiter and her four main moons. That counts as a pretty good night, right? Lily and I talked about science and what scientists who study the moon and planets and stars are called: Astronomers. She talked about perhaps being an astronomer when she grew up. When we pulled up in the driveway, I asked her again what she wanted to be when she grew up, trying to get her to own the new word.
She said, "What are the scientists called that study animals?"
I said, "Zoologists."
She said, "Yeah, that's what I want to be. A Zoologist."
Oy.
