Today was Lily's follow up appointment. We had the MRI last week, and today we saw her team of doctors.
The MRI showed the same thing as the follow up MRI immediately after surgery. There is still a tiny little piece of something in there, but the surgeon can't say for sure whether it is tumor, scar tissue, etc. This isn't necessarily bad news, but it wasn't the news we were hoping for either. The doctor clarified that this soon after surgery, the MRI results are still not perfect, and that the next one in March will offer a better comparison. For now, though, the doctors are going to continue to monitor her with frequent MRI's (every 3 months).
We also saw the oncologist and neurologist. They took Lily through a series of cognitive and motor tests and she seemed to be doing very well. The neurologist is scheduling Lily for and EEG, and if the results are good, we are going to be able to wean her off of the seizure meds. Apparently, the meds cause wild mood swings--and here I thought it was just being "3 years old."
We also will have to see an ophthalmologist as Lily's left eye seems to have some nerve damage. She can see out of it, but it drifts, especially when she's concentrating and focused.
All in all, not too bad. We're dealing with peripheral issues we can LIVE with, and that's fine.
The picture is of Princess Goofball on the doc's table. She's a nut.
